Piedmont Recreation Department (PRD) is hiring for part-time Preschool Aides and Teachers for our PLAY-BASED Preschool Programs working with children 2-4 years of age. We are looking for creative, energetic, and fun leaders to join our caring team of teachers.

Preschool Shift Times:
Under Hillside, Skipping Stones and Pre-K
Shift Time:
- School Year: Monday - Thursday, 8:30am to 1:30 pm (August - May)
- Summer Session: Monday - Thursday, 8:30am - 12:30pm (June-July)
Tiddlywinks Shift Time:
- Butterflies Class (ages 2-3 years)
- School Year: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8:45 - 12:45 (August - December), Monday - Thursday, 8:45 - 12:45 (January - May)
- Summer Session: Monday - Thursday, 8:45 - 12:45
- Caterpillars Schedule (18 - 23 months)
- School Year and Summer Session: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 8:45 -12:45 pm
Job Duties/Responsibilities
This position will require an individual to:
- Work Outdoors rain or shine
- Assist Program Director and conduct small learning-group activities
- Set up and maintain outdoor classroom to encourage discovery and learning
- Prepare, set up, implement and clean-up activities and projects
- Assist in the preparation of monthly lesson plans
- Maintain a welcoming, safe atmosphere
- Enforce health and safety practices in our outdoor /indoor classroom areas
- Work closely with other teaching staff in a team teaching situation
- Diapering and assisting in toilet training required
- Must to be able to lift up to 35 lbs
Our preschool programs observe the Piedmont Unified School District calendar and are closed on all major holidays, including unpaid breaks during one week in November, two weeks in December, one week in February and one week during the Spring.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Must be 18+ years or older
- 12+ Units in Early Childhood Education/Development
- Equivalent to the completion of 2-4 years of college; completion of coursework in education, child development or in a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in a preschool or childcare setting (specialty infant/toddler experience preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPR & First Aid Certification required
- Mandated Reporter Certificate required
- TB Test required
Recreation Leader II / Preschool Aide ($18 - $20) - Equivalent to completion of two years college and three years experience working in a childcare or recreation program. Completion of coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
Recreation Leader III / Preschool Teacher ($20 - $26) - Equivalent to the completion of 4 years of college, and 5 years of experience working in a childcare or recreation program. Completion of coursework in education, child development or in a related field is preferred. Very specialized experience in a play-based preschool program.
Successful candidates must pass a Department of Justice live fingerprint scan, background reference checks, and a Tuberculosis screening prior to start of employment.

Hours per week: 20-30 hours
Pay $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
