THE CITY OF PIEDMONT IN PIEDMONT, CA SEEKS ASSOCIATE PLANNER (Job ID C601-N001) to perform the following job duties: Under direct and general supervision, perform various professional field and office planning work related to current and advance planning, including review of development, architectural design, land use applications, zoning, site plans, and environmental analysis and document review. Provide professional support work in managing, implementing, and monitoring environmental and transportation related projects and programs. Provide complex professional staff assistance to the Director of Planning & Building, other departments, and the public in areas of expertise. Perform variety of studies and prepare and present staff reports at public meetings. Perform related work as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master's degree in urban planning or related field
Experience: Two years of professional experience in public planning, zoning and related community development activities
Experience must include: (1) Reading, interpreting, applying, and explaining technical written material and complex Federal, State, and local policies, standard practices and procedures, laws, regulations, ordinances, and City planning policies and procedures; (2) Reading, understanding, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing and presenting technical drawings, maps, data, and specifications related to land use and the environment; (3) Interpreting planning and zoning programs to the general public, identifying and responding to issues and concerns of the public, City Council, Planning Commission and other boards and commissions; (4) Reading and interpreting plans and specifications and conducting site visits prior to construction, during construction and after construction is completed; (5) Thorough coordination with local and/or state agencies, assessing, monitoring, and reporting environmental impact resulting from proposed development; (6) Conducting routine research projects, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations; (7) Representing the department and city in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups, and various business, professional, and regulatory organizations and individuals; (8) Acting in lead role in working groups to facilitate understanding of problems and finding of solutions; and (9) Utilizing ArcGIS to perform land use analysis of site design, terrain constraints, land use compatibility, utilities, and other urban services.
Salary: $106,380 to $125,880 per year
